How's My Driving #1
8:20 PM
I have officially become a car owner on August 30, 2014. I bought a Mitsubushi Mirage G4 GLS A/T 1.2 shit. I have no idea what these are but basically it's an automatic car. I sounded like a typical zero-knowledge-on-cars school girl. That being said, this is not a Mirage G4 review so if that is what you are looking for, hit alt + F4. Oooh. That rhymed. Poet here. No? Okay.
Moving on... prior to buying the car, I had no idea how to drive. Yes, you are right. I bought a vehicle when I had no idea how to even use it. I mean, I somehow know because I always watch my mom or my friends drive but I had never driven myself. Is that a stupid move? I don't know. Maybe. But I studied right away.
My friend Seq has been teaching me every weekend. I started driving around his village. I remember the first time I did, I was so damn scared. I wouldn't drive in a street with parked cars (yes, I was afraid of cars that weren't even moving). We gradually went out the village and started driving in busier streets. I would say that after about 6 sessions (that many), I have already improved.
Before I started learning how to drive, I thought it was easy but let me tell you, it sure is a chore! You need to consider so many things, glance at everything and keep an open mind. One of the mistakes I've done in the earlier sessions was focusing too much on the cars in front of me. I wouldn't glance at my side mirrors thinking that 1) Seq will tell me if there's an approaching car from behind 2) the cars behind me will understand that I am a student driver and they will just let me get away with whatever stupidity I'd do on the road... FALSE. That's not the case at all. Even as a student, you must already be aware of what's happening outside your car. You need to keep your eyes and mind wide open.
It was frustrating at first but I am enjoying it now. I was on the road 10 minutes ago. I drove to the vet to buy my puppies their food. I didn't hit anyone or got close to hitting anything so I guess I'm doing fine.
Being a good driver is a gradual process so I need to be very patient. Like what Seq told me, nobody was born a driver but anyone can learn how to drive!
